This survey on SU funding has the following purposes: 1) As NUS UK and NUS Charity membership contribution is based on a proportion of funding from your institution ('block grant') the information you provide is used to calculate membership contribution. 2) The data is also used for research purposes and published to members to help understand funding in the sector as part of the Big SU Survey. For this reason it is vital we collect accurate and consistent information on funding. In addition we collect up to date basic information about your legal structure to ensure our records are accurate. A list of all questions in the survey and guidance notes can be found here. * Denotes mandatory field

These will be reviewed and subtracted from your block grant calculation
We ask for this information so we can analyse trends in block grant and publish to members. Getting an understanding of predicted block grants helps other members with negotiations.
We're asking members to provide any narrative information which may be helpful for other members in negotiating a block grant. Please therefoe let us know anything helpful for publication in the Big SU Survey Report in relation to your block grant. We are particularly keen to hear where members have secured an increase in funding and how you went about this so we can share best practice.
Typically, referendums are held to determine an SU/SA’s membership with NUS UK only, because it is classed as an affiliation and has the most significant implications financially and politically for students. The NUS Charity membership is an operational and commercial relationship with a smaller fee and can be determined at a trustee board or similar, depending on the structure of your organisation.
In this section we ask you about the legal structure of your SU. This is for two reasons, to give us information about the legal forms of SUs and also to help us maintain NUS and NUS Charity’s register of members. As SUs are formally company law members of NUS UK/NUS Charity we must keep a register of all our members represented by a legal person.
This section is only for members who are Charitable Unincorporated Association. The register of members for both NUS UK and NUS Charity contain details of each of our members and must be represented by a legal person. As you have indicated you are an unincorporated association you must be represented by a nominated representative. Please indicate the person who should be entered into the register of members for this purpose. This is a company law requirement and the names of nominated representatives will be entered into the register. This register is available for inspection by members and third parties.
